Due to the ever increasing shortage of fossil fuels, the production of energy from the combustion of bio mass is becoming more and more important. In addition to stalks and herbaceous bio mass (e.g. straw) wood is used as the main fuel in biomass power stations. Compared to fossil fuels such as coal, the composition of bio mass as a fuel may be to a great extent variable. BWF Envirotec has specific high-performance filter media for this application, which are precisely matched to the operating conditions of your dust collector.

Specific Requirements for Filter Media in Bio Mass Power Stations:

  • High separation efficiency 
  • Good chemical resistance 
  • Resistance to high process humidity 

Scrim and Fibre Types for Filter Media in Bio mass Power Stations:

Bio mass as a fuel is CO2 neutral, but creates different types of fly ash during combustion, which need to be effectively separated. Therefore high temperature resistant filter media made of Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)-, Polyimide (PI)-, Premium Fibre Blend (PFB)- and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-fibres are often used in biomass power stations. These filter media types filter fine dust particles efficiently as a result of their increased fibre surface, and under optimal operational conditions maintain lowest possible emission rates.

For highly agglomerating dusts, we recommend the use of needlona®-high-performance filter media with a Glaze-surface finish. An additional CS30® or CS31® finish ensures optimal filtration results.

All filter media models are also available as MPS® filter media. The enlarged filter area of the MPS® filter media ensures highly effective separation of the dusts.
 
PM-Tec® filter media made of needlona® needle felt or fiberglass fabric are particularly suitable for fine dust filtration. Owing to a laminated ePTFE membrane, very fine dust particles are already separated on the surface. PM-Tec® filter media thereby allow compliance with minimal dust emission limit values.
